Shinigami (Death God)

Shinigami Guide
Shinigami ( Death God or Soul Reapers ) are souls of the deceased that have acquired supernatural powers. Much like the ghosts we're used to hearing about, they are composed of ectoplasm and can only be seen by "spiritually aware entities", which does not incorporate a large number of humans. They are, however, capable of influencing the environment around them. They can be injured, but are not as easily killed as humans. They also have much longer lives, living hundreds and hundreds of years. The Shinigami live in a certain area within Soul Society known as Seireitei (the Court Of Pure Souls). An area in which no normal soul can even enter. They maintain all order in Soul Society and make sure no one objects their balance. Seireitei is protected by a large wall all the way around and plus that, there is a Spiritual field surrounding the Court Of Pure Souls both over the top and underground. If anyone was to touch the field, they would be turned into dust. Every shinigami possesses a zanpakuto, which translates to "soul-cutting sword". Zanpakutos originate from the souls of shinigami, and have three different forms. Shinigami also have other abilities such as kidou or demon arts, which is a form of spellcasting. Kidou is divided into two types: hado or blast spells, and bakudou or binding spells. These forms of demon arts spells are performed by calling out a complicated and often long-winded incantation followed by the name of the spell, which causes an effect once the name has been recited. Lesser versions of the spells can be used by calling out the name alone, but their effectiveness is reduced when used in such a fashion. Another technique, known as shunpo, allows the user to travel faster than the eye can follow.
Shinigami Goverment
In Soul Society, deep inside Seireitei is The Central 46 Chambers. Center 46 is a group made up of 40 wisemen and 6 judges gathered and placed together. They are the Goverment supreme of Soul Society. It is the area in which all Shinigami are judged and even the Living World is judged. If the Shinigami cannot come to an agreement and organize themselves, Center 46 is forced to take action. Once Center 46's judgement has been decided and declared, no Shinigami can object to it or they are as a good as dead. Center 46 spares no light sentence and their word is law, no matter how harsh or wrong it may be. The only people who can enter Center 46 are the 40 wisemen and 6 judges themselves and Shinigami Captains with proof of identity.
The Shinigami army has three divisions: Gotei 13 (Thirteen Court Divisions), Demon Arts corps, and the Special Ops corps.
The Shinigami Army has two main objectives:
- They Konso (Soul Burial) wandering souls in the Living World and send them to their respective place. Either Soul Soceity if they led a good life. Or to hell if their life was full of evil acts (such as murders, theft et cetera.)
- Perform cleansing of Hollow soul's. Once a Soul Reaper defeats a Hollow, it's heart will return to it's former state before it became a Hollow and be sent to it's respective afterlife. Any crimes a soul commits after he becomes a Hollow do not count when it's sins are washed.
Shinigami Gear
The Zanpakuto is a necessity to all shinigami, it's there main weapon. In it's unreleased form, it appears to be nothing more than a simple katana in design. (Well, most of them do.) But, there are two forms of release that shinigami eventually learn to master. Zanpakuto are more than mere blades. They are spiritual entities tied to the shinigami who wields it. All zanpakuto have different personalities and will test their shinigami partners continually until they are mastered. A zanpakuto can be regenerated, if broken, but it cannot be replaced.

Each shinigami wears a black robe with a white thin robe underneath acting as a undergarment and white socks with brown sandals that are tied few inches above the ankles. The robe is basically a pair of black hakama with a black haori, tied together by a white sash around the waist line. Lieutenants will occasionally wear armbands which are marked with there divisions number and logo (symbol). In addition to the black robe, Captains also wear a white haori (robe jacket) over there shinigami robes, which carries their divison number on the back. The Standard haori is sleeveless but a few captain's haori have sleeves.During Bankai, a few shinigami's clothing drastically changes appearance.
