Question Prob with camcoder mpg - Aug. 23rd, 2008, 03:51 AM

hey i have a sony dcr-sr35e handycam. its recording format is mpg and sound system is dolby. when i burn my video to a disc and play it on a dvd player i get no sound! but it play well on a pc but why not on a dvd player???(its a hard disk drive camera)

your PC can play a lot more audio formats then ur DVD player..., what type of audio format does it use..cos Dolby means nothing...

the recorded movie file audio format is dolby digital 2 or 4 channel, my dvd usually play dolby digital audio codec but this time when i press audio it says no codec,why?

cos ur DVD player doesnt have the codec, ur camcorder doesnt have a different audio recording format? U can always convert it...but that takes a lot of time...u should ask these questions to the right ppl lol :P ppl who have experience with these kind of things...like a store where they sell camcorders and DVDs or a more 'technical' forum...the chances of finding somebody with similar problems or ppl who know more about it are a lot higher there

edit: and I looked around the net...and apparantly u need some kind of processor that converts a Dolby Surround Pro Logic system to 5.1-channel playback. This probably isnt helpfull so Ill look around some more

edit2: Did u try both channel types? ( 2 and 4 ) If uve only tried 4 channel then I suggest u try it again with 2 channel..cos that seems like an ordinary stereo signal...

i did convert it to a 2 channel audio format but i get the same prob
