i generally use windows media player with a number of codecs.
for vids that don't work with the codecs i have i just use VLC instead of searching for another codec

I use Winamp for music (can't stand Windows Media player), GOM Player for any video file on my PC and VLC for DVD's

I use VLC for everything, even DVDS and music. It's what runs best on my laptop and I prefer minimal/simple programs for that. I have a Zune, so I use the Zune software for arranging my music - but never for listening.

Also for people who need to convert videos for MP3 players: look up Twins software, a friend just introduced me to it and it works amazingly well for converting anime to other/smaller formats for portable play.

I tend to use VLC and real player the most it just depends on what anime I'm watching. Since I have an apple laptop so I wouldn't know how winamp or windows media player would handle the job. I do have Quicktime but, since it gives me nothing but problems and VLC will play everything but Real Media. VLC is my number one player of choice. For music I tend to use iTunes for all of my music files it's just quicker and a lot easier.

i think but im not sure its "videoLAN"...

VLC is just so simple or user friendly and it plays almost anything....

its kinda have a boring skin, but doesnt matter since you will not be able to see it in full screen... you try to download it.... then if you do not like it just remove it from your computer...
