it depends on what kind of files you have on your computer. For example, Roxio has a solid DVD making program, but it won't load .avi files (people say you can make it load .avi files by doing a lot of messing around, but it looks overly complicated). Windows basic DVD maker is decent in that it's quick and you can put .avi or .mpg, but there's no way to title your sub-chapters. Luckily, most creators go through an encoding process, so if you have an .mpg, you can just load it without having to put it through something like tmpgenc to get it in the right format. If you have .mkv files, then you're in a bit of trouble regardless (that's a real hassle).

I use an old version of Nero and it haven't failed me once, but it seems odd to me to get a old version now, I just use my old version because it came with my burner and I'm to lazy to change. so get your hands on a new version and you will have what you need.

the beautiful thing about nero is that it allows you to burn anything you want ,even if it wasn't a normal format,i once burned a dvd, with file extension .dap and they still work(don't ask why),anyway you usually get a burner software with the drive(usually it is nero)didn't you get one???

Hey man, here are three links to DVD-RW's on Newegg, any one of these would fit your needs and will come with the software needed Samsung DVD-RW, Lite-On DVD-RW, and Asus DVD-RW.
All of them are similarly spec'ed and roughly the same pirce with the Asus being a bit more expencive. One thing you will need to watch is if you have enough free connections for them as the Samsung and Asus drives are SATA interfaces, and the Lite-On is IDE.
I hope that helps

Very basic second sig attempt

I have Nero 6 and it works perfectly, like others said, it hasn't failed me yet. as for your dvd burner, i personally picked up a 50-60 dollar one at walmart, only one they had and it works just fine, just make sure you can do DVD rw's I can usually pick up a 50 pack of dvd + or DVD-R's for about 13 bucks. You don't need to put out $120 dollars for a good burner, just pick a brand name like liteon or something like that and get one with a good write speed
