iPhone 3G

Okay, now before I start I saw some of the other threads for the iPhone but none discussed the iPhone 3G so I decided to make a new thread, so if this is against some rule I apologize in advance.

So, Steve Jobs and Apple announced the new iPhone officially dubbed the "iPhone 3G". So my question is simply what do you think? I know there was much concern with the original iPhone that it was very fragile and the screen easily cracked. Now supposedly they have hardened the case for extra protection so that is addressed. Another concern was that the internet and download speeds were extremely slow over the EDGE network. Well now the iPhone will be operating over AT&T's 3G network which Apple claims is 2.6 times faster. So that is much better. Overall this is a much improved phone and I would like to know what others think. I myself am in the market for an iPhone and cannot wait for the July 11th release date. So if anyone has any comments please share.

P.S.- I am aware that there is much animosity with the price and that people are saying all you are doing is paying for the name. Now just keep in mind that we are talking about Apple here people, this is to be expected but I will tell you what your getting great quality of service.

why would u want a crappy Iphone...if u wanna call...just buy something cheap..if u want quality then a HTC..

Just so you know the $199 price tag is if you sign up for a two year agreement through AT&T...well at least in America. If you don't sign a contract then the price for the 8GB iPhone is $399 still.

Yes I agree in a way that HTC makes quality merchandise however they run off of Windows mobile which isn't very good to say the least. The Mac OS is much smoother and user friendly. Also, the HTC products are around the same price as the iPhone.

ya thats why im not getting an iphone till next year when my current contract with tmobile is ended so i can get sweet phone discount, also i live in a valley and tmobile and sprint dont work in my house.

I know the price is up there, but I feel that since it is made by Apple, it better be good quality - if only for their name sake. they could not afford for ppl bad mouthing them. And Yes I WANT ONE

iPhone 3G is actually a decent phone. I have my iPhone original and love it. Best phone I have ever had. Now when you compare the HTC brand phones to the iPhone. What exactly are you comparing. Because the new HTC Touch Diamond is not cheap (at $779 USD)and really to me is the only HTC Phone that compares to the iPhone. Its about what features benefit you and your daily lifestyle. No doubt though. The HTC Touch Diamond/Pro are both some awesome phones. Along with the Sony eXperia X1 (aka SEX1) are all nice phones that are comparable Windows Mobile devices. Then again thats the other thing that just trips me out. Windows Mobile. I really can't stand the OS.

Oh well.. just my two cents.

In the UK, You can get the iPhone 3G for free if you already have an iPhone.. And you get to keep your old iPhone [And even get support on how to give it tos omeone else (Setting up accounts etc)]
