resulution is importain, but you will never needed the highest resulution, because picturen will be big about 1Gb, what is much to big.
more importain how close to original picture you can get with settings, my scener will allways made it more light, what i hate, so i took pictures with camera and is better.

made a good judgement or you will be realy sorry in future!!!

yea oke..but can u actually see difference in quality between a 1200x2400 and a 3200x9600 scanner? or is it only slightly noticeable? I know higher RES is better..but is it worth 25 eur? ( either 50 or 75 euro, not looking for a superexpensive scanner )

let me ask you is 100000Mb enoght for A4 big picture (19200 resulution, 600 is enoght allready or still a littre too much), and my scener is old about 6 years or more.
so you should get much better one for quite low price.
you should look at how many colors can read, or how many bit's it have.

the reason why you would scan at a higher resolution isn't for the quality as a whole, its more for the finner detail. You wont be able to see a difference between a 300 dpi vs a 600 dpi scan, unless you zoom in. Thats where the resolution comes into play.

So if your goign to be scanning small images and trying to blow them up(make bigger) then you will want to scan that at a higher resolution, but normal sized images can be scanned at 300-200 dpi without loosing any quality.

As far what type of scanner, go with a flatbed scanner that has the option to do at least 1200 dpi. More than likely you wont need it, but its there if you do. Now a days, all scanners have about the same scanning resolution, so it wont be hard to find one. Hp makes great scanners, I've been using the same one for the last 5 years, and it still works. The only thing to watch out for is finger prints and lint getting on the glass.
