How do I

OK... so I was watching an anime the other day and there was a really cool scene that would make a awsome background or signature. So I paused the video (a divx .avi) and did a screen capture (CTRL + PrtScn). When I pasted the screen capture to MSPaint (yeah, ghetto i know, I cant afford anything else right now though) all I get is a black screen?

This happens for every video I try doing a screen capture on... how do i get a screen capture of a frame in a video?

what software are you using to play back the video? that might help me to figure out what you can do. or you can download virtualdub and import the video using that software and do screen captures that way.

im using media player 10... with like 10 different codecs installed.

ive tried the screen capture at full screen and cascaded too.

Windows movie maker, inport the vid in that program then pause at the desired image. On the pre view there is a play, pause, split, take picture, etc click on Take picture to get that screen shot. Hope that helps.

is windows movie maker part of the os? i dont seem to have it... running xp pro, not media center

have yet to try that virtualdub though.

Yeah, it should be part of XP as it came with pack 2, try searching for it useing the the searcher at the start menu.

i use photoshop. i like it, but many people like acdsee as well.

Well I use VCW VicMan's Photo Editor, it's free at download.com, but if you want to make realy good images photoshop is the best.
