Anyone have any recommendations for external hard drives and/or what to look for when buying one?

When it comes to internal hard drives, I always take these factors into consideration:

a. Capacity
b. Seek time
c. Price

How about this one:-

Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition

This one seems alright...
Cost per Gigabyte: $1.25
Drive size (GB): 160
Interface: USB 2.0
Speed (RPM): 7200
Buffer Size (MB): 8

Wow...both of them sound like good options. How long have you used the drives? In the past, when I was heavily using my comps, my drives died out after about 2 years of use.

mine is kinda new its about 6 or 7 month old but as expected i got a 2 year warranty on it so if anything happens i get a new 1 on the double ive..

at the moment i got like 400 gig anime on it and im using it to stream it to my tv directly from the disk adn ive never experienced any lagg or slower times to read just casue its getting filled up i had a 250 gig packard bell disk before that really made a shitty impression on me it lagged down and died only after like 4 months so then i changed to the WD disk

Cool! Thanks for the extra info.

When it comes to HDD, I usually stick with Maxtor, WD, and Seagate.

Holy crap! That's a TON of stuff! You must have a crazy library of movies, music, anime, etc. in order to fill up that much memory.
