I'm a newbie on Linux OS,... 'need help.

Hi guys,... I made my desktop dual boot. It boots on both MS WinXp and Linux Ubuntu. I wanted to try linux. So far it's good, I need to adjust a bit on linux, though... I connect to the net via Opion Icon 225, with Xp there's no problem. Now, I want to use it as well on my Linux to connect to the net. Linux Ubuntu is reading it fine but the problem is it won't connect. I keep getting a message that I'm disconnected. Does anyone knows how to fix this? Pls. help.Thanks.

Is that Wired or Wireless? You can take a look at Ubuntu Forums: Wired Network Disconnected. I don't use Ubuntu; however, I do use Linux and I am sure it could be the drivers is missing in your install for the NIC. o.o

It's wireless. It's a USB modem. I'm actually going to try to ask there (on Ubuntu forum). But I'm still hesitating to register, 'coz i'm afraid i dont hve much 2 contribute (i dont know much 'bout linux / ubuntu). I'm only logging in as a guess... wen evr i try to connect on ubuntu it will try to connect 4 a few sec then stop den it'll provide a msg saying u r dsconcted. it ws able 2 dtect my usb modem but it just wouldn't connect... thanks anyway.

you can always find such solutions on the net,i faced a similar problem with my ubuntu when i wanted to connect to my modem (wired),but i found the solution on the net

Well, it's not necessary that you need to be active. However, I am sure in the future you will have more questions. It's best to get direct support from the Distributor as there could be bugs that have not been discovered yet. o.o
