Internet Speed/Cost

I was searching through the news and found this article.

This along with Time Warner trying to meeter internet access got me thinking about the price i pay for internet, especially since i find that i don't actually get the full speed that i am paying for(i get like 80%). So, what speed internet do you pay for, how much do you pay for it, and what speeds do you actually get. (also what country you live in, or if you're rural or city ect. would be helpful)

Personally I get ripped off because I use Verizon DSL, meaning I need to pay for a land phone line in addition to the internet service. Which in the end comes to about $100 per month, and my DL speed maxes out at about 186mbps on an average download.


I'm switching to Verizon FiOs soon. Which is a package deal for TV, internet and phone which will put me at $99.99/ month with some additional charges I'm sure. So yeah. I'm getting ripped off until I switch contracts.

yeah rogers for me is the best D: the longer you stick with them the higher your speed goes with out paying extra like this might not be much but my friend been with roger for years lots of years and he paying like 20 for like 1 mb/second

I think ours is like 900 php or roughly 2 dollars a month. The speed is pretty slow for a DSL, sometimes its connection wavers or gets lost completely.

adsl for 53.9 $/year plus a 12.6$/month for the phone line,as for the speed it is 512MB/s but i never got that actual speed it is like most of you said i get like 70-80% of it.
