I received an email from my ISP today that shows there was a complaint lodged against me for downloading the latest episode of the Naruto Shiippuden series from your website. Here is the excert that was sent to me from ym ISP:

The copyright holder alleges that at 18 Sep 2009 21:00:11, they were able to connect to the IP address 75.159.103.2. This IP address was assigned to your connection at that time. They allege that they were able to use BitTorrent to download a portion of the file Naruto Shippuden - Episode 126 that was being hosted on that by that IP address.They allege that as they were able to extract a portion of [Taka]_Naruto_Shippuuden_126_[480p][6E45630B].mp4 from the IP address, that their exclusive distribution rights are being violated. They are asking that the file sharing stops immediately. The IP address was tracked by us to your account. The file could be shared from computer behind your router, including ones connecting through the wireless portion of your router.

I thought that this site was either in some form of cooperation with the makers of the Naruto series for fansubs of this series. This is the first time that I have ever encountered anything like this personally and only saw something similar with the Blade of the Immortal series website that was shut down because the maker of the series threatened legal action unless they stopped immediately. If I could get a response to why this happened or have someone let me know if your site is now being monitored in some way that would be appreciated.

If you downloaded from the episode from the torrent then it's your liability. We do not host any Bittorrent on our server and it comes as a direct link from the fansub torrent tracker. P.S. This not just on BN and is on all anime sites/fansubs that are very similar to it.

You did not get this file from us. It says that they got it from YOUR IP address via BitTorrent. Unless everything you download is somehow able to be downloaded by other people via BitTorrent, it could not have been from us.

What most likely happened was that while you were downloading the episode via BitTorrent you were also seeding the file, and you happened to seed (upload) some or all of the file to them, and they got your IP address. Then they sent a DMCA to the ISP, your ISP sent you a notice, and now you're here now.

Solution, stream it. That's what I do (no offense to the BN admins, I do it for everything. I come here to chat and not download).

Well, he got a DMCA notice for downloading from Bittorrents and not from downloading from our servers. We never share any information to any 3rd party sites. Also, it depends on what kind of streaming site you use as there are True and Progressive.
