depending on the slang used...

a stock.. and a render could mean the same thing...

but a "render" could be more useful than the stock image itself.

In proper terms Stock is indicated for an image I think. o.O Most people confuse them between the two... Maybe we should compile a list of proper terms. ._.

yeah it is an image sometimes stocks are more useful for sigs then renders because some stocks have really nice backgrounds that you can work with

Stocks can be better than renders because if you need a background, you already have a matching one. You can always render if yourself
If you ues a render, it can be hard to make a matching background
