chapter 84 is unleashed ,it is not bad ,but i kind of feel the story is being stretched a bit too far,i mean it feels like they are adding a filler within the manga ,which is leading the manga to become boring.isn't it enough that we have to wait a whole month between each two chapters??the stroy is getting more and more complicated that i have to reread multiple chapters to remember stuff and to understand it,plus for the first time in my life i'm thankful that the anime drifted away from the manga and ended earlier, cause no way i'm waiting for a few months for the next episode to release or in best case scenario they add fillers . any one feels the same???so what do you think of the story this far and what do you think about the new chapter

I'm a bit behind in FMA, but I will say this: I thought the way the anime handled it was the best way to do it, and a blueprint more shows should follow. I've discussed this before, but there are essentially 4 ways a manga is adapted into an anime:
1) directly and completely (i.e. Bleach) - every aspect of the manga is put into the show, some filler typically needed if pacing is off
2) directly and incompletely (i.e. Inuyasha) - every aspect of the manga is put into the show until it's cancelled
3) partial adaptation (i.e. Berserk) - only a portion of the manga is adapted into a show
4) conceptual (i.e. FMA) - the show and manga are fundamentally different, but the concepts it is based on remain the same.
I've always said that FMA handled it best. I thought the show had some flaws (particularly with the Door and Scar), but I loved it and I liked that it deviated from the manga. I hate fillers, and I hate overly long shows. Alchemist straying on its own to keep the length manageable was perfect.
I will say this though: the manga is great. I think it's overcomplicated, and I think some of the pacing is questionable, but overall, I love it. My main problem with it (and with most manga) is that there aren't many "stopping points." It's really one continuous story arch, which is irritating because you never get any resolution about anything in increments. I never liked that with tv shows, US comics, or Japanese manga. I prefer a structure where we can get some closure at some points along the way.

No, I like the way it is going. I think he is trying to add more character development to it currently. As not all the characters are developed fully... If you take a look at Greed/Lin, we don't know a lot about it. So, I think he seems to be stretching it a bit. However, I would rather have well developed characters then half ones. :s
But, I will have to say the plot is really good.. He often ends up drifting from it time to time. _-" Also, the latest chapter how it left off has left me in suspense. I hope Pride and Gluttony don't erase the seal on Al's armor. :s I hope Al's dad helps to rescue him nick of time. >.< The other part it seems that Al's soul seems to be loosening from the armor. Could it be that Ed's still in danger? O.o

ed is still in danger that is a fact ,the whole military is looking for him, after all they need him for the promised day,i don't think pride will erase Al's seal because he is another sacrifice ,so i guess they will take him as a hostage to lure ed and their father so that they will complete the needed set of sacrifices ,but what really worried me is that wrath has come to the east which will destroy their plans,on a side note i want to talk about this chapter in here as well as the things in the first post, but if i did them in two threads, they will merge them together so i guess it is fine to talk about anything regarding FMA in this thread since that is what the name implies

I didn't mean it that form... If you think about it, Al wasn't able to move his body and felt like his soul was escaping from the armor. :x Plus, doesn't the Father needs to have each sacrifice in 5 distinct corners to make a form of a pentagon. o.O I think that's what he had planned to do. Also, Wrath being there does seem to mess up the plan a bit. However, I hope they can turn it around. T.T
I think Al's father will have a plan to take care of this. The other think is that the girl from Xing has Sloth and she is heading back. Do you think she might get caught and become a form of Homunculus? o.o

she has envy with her and he is now powerless, the only homunculus she can become is lust, besides it was different with lin, plus i don't think the father care about her now, plus he needs to know where is the sacrifices to place them in the right positions ,so he needs to catch them and then place them, since right now he don't know the location of ed ,ed's dad,and ed's teacher, the only sacrifice that he knows its location is roy,and still roy hasn't open the gate yet,so he is not even a confirmed sacrifice yet,and honestly i still not sure of their dads real intentions ,what if he went to central to report to the father,i still can't trust this guy, believe it or not i trust greed more than him

you better start from the beginning cause the manga and the anime is totally different stories ,with many similar characters but in the manga there are many different characters ,you may read it from chapter 16 it is right when ed and al went to see their teacher ,however i recommend to start from the beginning since the manga has a little aspect, but it is fine to read it from their since after that point the real difference arises

it is only 84 chapters(unlike me i have 404 naruto chapters to catch up)plus it doesn't get released weekly like other mangas it only get released each month around the 15th ,so if you tried you might be able to catch up before the next chapter is released,it is a great manga ,however i get bored waiting for the next chapter, plus the story is a bit complicated, but it really worth it after all,the only thing that annoys me about it is that the story is getting more complicated by the chapter let me know when you catch up
