don't feel the excitement goes away if you knew what would happen before watching it???

Both are nice...Manga has lotsa secrets in em' that they don't show in the anime. anime shows more emotion in it.

i think ,the best way to enjoy both is to watch the anime first till it ends then read the manga,at least that is what i did with FMA

I'm getting into this real late, but...

Typically, it depends on the type of show. A lot of times, the art and animation in a show adds a lot to the plot, especially if well rendererd CGI backgrounds are used. Particularly, mecha shows come to mind as being better than their manga counterparts (Full Metal Panic). In cases like those, it makes sense to read the manga and watch the anime.

Sometimes, when the art and animation suck, and the plot is directly taken from the manga, I won't even bother with the show. I've only watched about 80 episodes of Bleach, because I'm not that impressed with the animation, and the story is identical to the manga (except the fillers, which I watched and kind of enjoyed). Inuyasha is another example. Before it got ridiculously long, I was regularly reading the manga. There was just no point in watching the show. The animation was C-level, and it wasn't adding anything to the story, so it's kind of redundant.

Point well stated

But even if read something and watch it and the anime sucked, it still does not take away from the book for me, i just feel they should have hired better writter for the show and fire the ones that could not grasp the storyline.

I don't really have a preference however, I feel as though with some of the epic battles in various series such as Bleach you lose some of the action packed goodness we all know and love in the manga. But as for me I'll stick to my usual routine of doing both.

I've felt that the excitment went away after i started reading the manga, mainly because it felt that the manga had more depth in its story development unlike the anime, and even after reading the manga and watching the anime i started to relize how slow it was compared to the manga, i mean it takes some of them 15min to start the fight and the fight only lasts a couple seconds then they explain what they just did.

Also for that FMA comment, the FMA anime was completely boring and screwed up the storyline all together, and i know the anime and the manga are two different storylines but i just wished that the anime followed the manga alot more than it does.

Coarse i came to this conclussion after reading some of the manga thinking the anime was the shit.

This might sound weird, but I do the same, other than I read the manga to see whats going to happen, like disappointments and such that are going to come up.

though I use to think the same before reading manga, I adapted to what I said before.^

Then again, Most Anime Originate from manga, so it would be the Anime that Steals the Glow From Manga.... even though most manga are further.

my 2 cents.

i know that the anime is originate from the manga ,but my point is that the anime is mostly more interesting cause of the animation ,and since the manga is further in the story you would know the events in advance ---->no surprise or tension as when you don't know the events, plus the anime actually helps the manga because most ppl start reading the manga only after watching the anime ,the anime is what makes the manga popular

I like both, except for the fillers in the anime. But i kinda did lose tha excitement in the animes. I do get eager tho, knowing what fights/events are going to come and waiting to see it in action in the anime. And the anime does include more, like the Kabuto fight with Yama, Naruto, Sai, and Sakura. Hopefully we'll will see more of that.
