Default Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie - 07-26-2008

G4 - The Feed - 'Cowboy Bebop' Live Action Film

not 100% sure how I feel about this. I like anime getting exposure in the States, but this can easily backfire. The good news is, Cowboy Bebop is the kind of movie that can easily be live action. There's nothing that will look ridiculous when done with real actors (as opposed to the upcoming Dragonball movie).

Erwin Stoff is a decent producer, he did an awesome job on Scanner Darkly. If he is really serious about this, it will be a tricky job. He has to based his movie on the OVA side with Vicious as the main enemy. The setting should be dark, like Darkly, Dark knight and Sin City. Stoff is very far from being equaled to the likes of Zack Snyder but he could tru and maybe just pull it off. You people are forgetting that if he makes a movie, the only thing that matters is the target audience which, in the world in terms of anime fans, is considerably less.

I'm not quite sure about how I feel on this one. Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorite animes, and I would hate to see it go commercial. Live action movies don't always turn out as good as the anime, and even worse, a lot of the time the story gets butchered. The good news is that Cowboy Bebop is kind of already realistic like Kenshin said. So it might not turn out so lame.

According to Fox Developing Cowboy Bebop Live-Action Feature Film! « FirstShowing.net , the tone of the film is gonna be like the show, so it's not gonna be dark like Dark Knight. I'm also very curious about when it's gonna take place. I agree with you on Vicious. I want this movie to delve deeper into the story of Spike's past with him. However, since we all know how that's resolved, I wonder if they'll just make it like Knockin On Heaven's Door and just make an independent story that takes place at some time during the show.

True but if they make it, i hope they stay loyal to the story on Knockin' on Heaven's Door. I mean if they do make it like that, the ending is known to the anime fans only but we know what our own reactions were when we watched that one So if they make it like that one, it will stick rock. Combo of Spike n Vicious---> Greatness.

Well, I was OK with the idea of this movie initially, but now I'm getting nervous. If firstshowing.net is to be believed, the movie is being fast tracked for a 2010 release. Fast tracking is never a good idea. They also are reporting that Keanu Reeves is the favorite to play Spike. Thankfully, firstshowing.net isn't all that reliable, particularly with casting rumors. But the fast track thing is certainly viable, and potentially dangerous. Here's the link that i'm hoping is BS: Rumor: Keanu Reeves as Spike in Cowboy Bebop Movie?! « FirstShowing.net
