Default Wolf's Rain - 06-01-2008

so this anime is about wolves!

the english voice actor of Kiba(main character) is Jhonny Bosch or Ichigo's voice actor.

Anyone heard of this anime?

In this anime wolves are believed to be extinct but there were a few survivors.

Characters:
* Kiba is a white wolf dedicated to finding the Lunar Flower and opening the way to Paradise. Kiba primarily acts on his instincts, which sometimes lead him to act rashly. Full of wolf pride, Kiba initially expresses disgust at wolves who use human disguises, but eventually realizes that it is necessary to survive. He is in love with Cheza.

* Tsume is a gray wolf with a scar across his chest. Rough and self-reliant, Tsume is portrayed as a strong fighter who keeps his true feelings to himself. He joins the others out of boredom and does not initially believe in Paradise. Though he frequently quarrels with Kiba over their journey, he eventually comes to believe as strongly as Kiba.

* Hige is a tan wolf with a carefree attitude, who seems quite comfortable living in human societies. After meeting Kiba, he goes along with the idea of searching for Paradise without much argument, though he doesn't show the same passion as Kiba. Hige wears a collar around his neck that he doesn't remember how he got. He also has the strongest sense of smell in the group.

* Toboe is a brown wolf and the youngest of the group. He is considered a cub by the others in the early part of the series. He was raised by an old woman who found him as a very small cub outside the city, and still wears the bracelets she gave him. Due to his raising, Toboe is friendly and protective towards most humans, though he will fight them to protect himself or another member of his pack.

* Cheza is also called the "Flower Maiden." The wolves need Cheza to find and open the gateway to Paradise. She was created via alchemy from a Lunar Flower. Originally asleep and under study in a lab in Freeze City, Cheza is eventually able to join the wolves, whom she loves. The spilling of a wolf's blood makes Cheza scream, and she has the ability to heal and put wolves into a restful sleep through her song and touch.

Wolf's Rain begins in Freeze City, a northern city in a world where the majority of people live in poverty and hardship. According to an old legend, when the end of the world comes, Paradise will appear, however, only wolves will have access to it. Although wolves are believed to have been hunted to extinction nearly two hundred years ago, they still exist, surviving by taking human form.

It's one of my favorite anime. It's about a group of wolves trying to find "paradise." It's very deep, complicated, and slightly confusing. I didn't like the OVA that ended it, but the anime itself was fantastic. It's paced a bit poorly... there was a group of 3 or 4 recap episodes in the middle, which is unacceptable for a show this short. Some of the characters are underdeveloped, and there are a few things that are just completely illogical regarding wolves being able to look like humans (just minor inconsistencies, nothing big). Overall, it's a thought-provoking show with likeable characters that you can get emotionally attached to to the point that you genuinely want to see them succeed. That kind of character empathy is hard to come by, and Wolf's Rain manages to do it better than anything aside from Full Metal Alchemist (EVERY ONE wanted to see those boys get their bodies back). It deals with some pretty common themes (the main theme being idealism vs. realism) but manages to do it in a very unique, creative way. Production-wise, it's the same studio that gave us Rahxephon, so you know it's top notch.

-original post removed....was off-topic :/-

question: is the ending of wolf's rain happy or sad?.....i usually feel more drawn towards a happy ending than a sad one so its likely ill base whether or not ill watch it according to that.
