Soul Eater

I've been on the hunt for a great, brand new anime that I could follow from its birth.. and I think I've finally found it. The first episode of Soul Eater aired in Japan last week, and I'm already hooked. As IGN describes, "It's the second meeting between animation production studio Bones and a manga series from the popular Square Enix-published Shonen Gangan anthology. The first such encounter gave us Fullmetal Alchemist, so there are obviously some pretty high expectations awaiting Soul Eater.

You might imagine Atsushi Okubo's manga as the humorous flip side of Bleach, starring a few of the working stiffs that help keep the mechanisms of the afterlife running. Three of the main characters are "meisters," the makers of weaponry that the gods of death have to use in their regular dead-soul-collecting duties. Other leading characters are their creations, the would-be weapons that have to be trained and honed with a steady diet of souls (both human and not quite human).

The drooling, lazy-eyed weirdo in the main illustration is one of those weapons – Soul Eater Evans, or just "Soul" for short, the invention of meister-in-training Maka Alban. Like most "death scythes" in their nascent stages, he can swap back and forth between a humanoid form and that of a deadly weapon, but he still needs somebody to wield him. While he and Maka don't exactly get on that well, when they work together, they can dish out plenty of damage."

I just hope the quality of the first episode can carry on in the season(s) to come! I recommend everyone go give it a good viewing and share their thoughts here.. ^.^

i just saw it,it is true that the graphics are amazing,but neither the concept nor the characters are original,first did anyone notice that the idea behind the weapons(soul for example)is the same for the zanpaktu in bleach,the story is the same as DGM.soul is just like lavi with white hair ,maka is a copy of lenlee with a blonde hair,papa has the attitude of komui and the personality and look of cross,also the sentense"cleanse and release that soul"is the same as allen's sentence from the first episode"cleanse this pitiful soul",also the souls that become kishins ,eats other souls ---->hollows in bleach ,OMG i have high hopes for this anime ,i mean it is acceptable for anime to take sth from other anime like idea's and stuff ,but the whole episode has nothing original in it ,even the moon is the same as the one in allen's dreams,it has great graphics but everything else is just a waste ,i mean it felt i'm watching a copy from DGM.i couldn't believe it,i mean if you haven't watch DGM you might like it,otherwise it would be disappointing,i don't think i will watch anymore episodes of it.

i didn't like it i already watched till the 3rd episode and i still feels that the story is patched up from other animes ,plus it is extremely lame,it is just a waste for this good graphics

The first threee are just the prolouge >_> The real story begins on ep 4..

This anime is awesome, love it although sometimes it may be boring

maybe .i will give it another chance once i catch up on my list,i still haven't caught up on naruto ,and i really want to watch black cat ,and basilisk so when i finish i may check it up,but i really hope the story won't be a lame copy of DGM,cause till now it is.

how many episodes is this expected to end at? i dnt particularly feel like starting another anime that won't be ending anytime soon....id rather w8 for it to finish or something.

if its ending soon (might just go and check this on wiki actually) then ill probs watch it.
