Dude, you have to watch (FMA) Full Metal Alchemist, its one of the best animes out there. Though you will have your own opinion as for the ending. Idefinitely reccomend it.
Also I see you have not watched Samurai Champloo . Another great anime. I promise you man all you have to watch is one episode and you will be officially hooked! This is not like Naruto and Bleach with 150+ episodes( though I love both), it only has 26 episodes and each one is worth it!
WOOT...PROUD MEMBER OF THE MOO FACTORY...WOOT

One anime I HIGHLY suggest is Tenjho Tenge. It is one of my favorite animes, it has a really good story line and some of the best fights I have seen in a long time. You and everyone else should check it out.

OK CommanderCody, I apologize in advance for the length of this post. In all seriousness, it depends on what you like. There are a lot of happier anime, but they're not typically action shows. If you're a straight action fan, and want something a little brighter, I recommend these (in this order):
Black Cat - definitely up the alley of Bebop and Trigun. One of the more underrated shows I've seen. I think people are turned off by its similarities to those two classics (it's clearly a fusion of the two), but it really is a great show by its own merits
Scryed - very poor dialgue, but solid characters (who develop nicely) and a good centralized plot. Great pacing, too
Outlaw Star - pretty much a Bebop clone. Again, the characters make the show. Also it's pretty self contained, and the ending got a little... confusing. But it's still a fun ride.
Samurai Champloo - same crew that did Cowboy Bebop. It's a lot like Bebop in the sense that the main story arc is very detached and pretty much each episode is self contained. It's very stylish, a lot of fun and has pretty cool animation. The only reason I rank it so low is because of the pacing (I don't like it nearly as much as alot of people). Just as it annoyed me when Bebop went away from its central point (Vicious was in like 5 episodes max), it annoys me at times to see the Champloo crew screwing around.
Rurouni Kenshin - a bit longer than the previous 4 (they are all 24-26 episodes) but it's pretty fun. Don't watch all of it though... it becomes CRAP after they leave Kyoto. But before that, it's a classic Shonen... just as enjoyable as Bleach
Full Metal Panic - a mecha action comedy that is unrivaled in that category. I would rank it higher, except some of the characters sucked (particularly Chidori and the main villain). Still, it's great for a laugh and is fun
As for the shows you say you're about to watch...
FMA - a brilliant show with a few flaws that drastically take away from it. Seriously, I only have about 3 problems with it, but the 3 problems almost outweigh all of its positives. The mood is incredible, as it shifts from super deformed humor to depressingly dark in a heart beat. It is a great, great show. Maybe because I'm a fan of the manga, I'm a bit more annoyed by some of the interpreations of characters than other people are (don't get me started on SCAR)
Gundam - Overall, I'm not impressed with Gundam. Gundam Wing is fantastic, though, and the movie that ends it (Endless Waltz) is phenomenal. I recommend doing some research before you dive into that world
Mushishi - a GREAT drama with a lot of psycological undertones. It's a bit slow at times, and I think Monster is better if you're into the psycological dramas, but Monster is much darker. You can't go wrong with Mushishi
Fate/Stay Night - a good fantasy with a lot of RPG elements that gets pretty dark at times. If you're into that stuff (as I am), you'll like it, but I think Twelve Kingdoms is a better fantasy because the world is more detailed and the show is longer (about 50 episodes). They're both great, though
I apologize for the long post. i hope it was helpful
