This thread is basic. I'm just wondering who you guys think are the cutest characters in anime and why. Please note, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT HOTTEST. It's pretty clear that most anime (particularly Shonen) have random little kids or weird animals that are supposed to be adorable. Typically, anime uses the "cute" card pretty poorly, and it gets annoying as hell. But sometimes, it actually works. Here are a few that came to my mind:
Rin (Inuyasha) - this show was pretty worthless overall, but I loved Rin. I think her chemistry with Sesshomaru and Jaken was perfect because of how oblivious she is
Yachiru (Bleach) - I find her ADD adorable
Goten (DBZ) - obnoxious kid
Eve (Black Cat) - I thought it was cute how out of place she always was... kind of like Terminator, except a cute kid instead of the Governator
Jim (Outlaw Star) - I loved how chivalrous he is, especially compared to Gene.

Hmm, I think Lucky Star has lot of cute characters there. :x It's basically for that, there wasn't much story; however, that show was pretty good.
Hayate no Gotoku, lets see I believe Nagi is cute when she doesn't have money crazy running over her mind. xD Also, people might think Hayate as cute when Maria and Nagi cross dress him. xD
both son goku´s sons I think is really cute when they are really small... goku is´nt cute in that way when his young, goten and gohan seems more defenceless and weak then there father did in his younger years

Rin (Inuyasha) - same as Darth Kenshin said.
Flonne (Makai Senki Disgaea) - the Cutest little Love Freak there is..
Alvis (Last Exile) - I just like her for some reason but i dont know why..
Arurū (Utawarerumono) - She is the most adorable thing i have seen.. she is.. shy..
silent.. and cute..*Love*
