Rurouni kenshin was the best samurai anime ... and it was realy awesome when he fought against shishio

oh hell yeah. i mean he bit him on the neck back and then in the last part of the episode he ends up in hell and says something like "now lets take over this place" omg that was so freakin awsome

yeah ... I respect him coz even kenshin himself didn't be able to kill him.

funny... I actually didn't like Shishio. I thought his character was a little too bizarre, and his existence was really for the author to make a political statement as opposed to creating a great villain. I thought his abilities and weaknesses were a little lame, too (spontaneous combustion?). I like Sojiro the most of the villains, unless you count the brief time Saitoh was one. For the record, Kenshin was A LOT more powerful than Shishio.

Speaking of Shishio's powers. there were 2 things about this show that annoyed me to death. First is some of the abilities are just ridiculous. Human fat on a sword creating sparks? Really? I don't even wanna go into Enishi's "nerves" powers from the manga. I thought the author tried too hard to come up with explanations for abilities, and sometimes it was just stupid. Also, I hated how every fight needed some moron to narrate for us (typically Yahiko or Sano). Take those 2 things away, and this is one of my favorite shows ever.

Of course I like kenshin and Saito more than Shishio but personally I respect him ... when kenshin faced Shishio in the last battlefield I thought he'll defeat him and every thing will be over. but that didnt happen kenshin was defeated by the human fat on Shishio's sword then Saito,Sanosuke and aoshi followed him ... we can't deny kenshin was hitting him hard in the second round but that doesn't mean he is the one who killed him... so we can't deny that Shishio is the most powerful character in Rurouni kenshin .... I like kenshin amd Saito more than him

The Kenshin power chart:

1) Seijuro Hiko
2) Kenshin Himura
3) Makoto Shishio
4) Sojiro Seta
5) Aoshi Shinamori

You have to remember 2 things about Shishio's fight with Kenshin. First off, Kenshin knew nothing about Shishio. However, Shishio had seen Kenshin's moves against the big fast guy (I don't remember his name) and knew the secrets of his succession technique from Sojiro. Also, Kenshin fought Shishio directly after 2 very tough battles: he fought with Aoshi and got roughed up, and he immediately went from there to fight Sojiro, who really did a number on him, whereas Shishio had been sitting on a throne the entire time. The first round of Shishio/Kenshin was not the real Kenshin... he was bloodied and battered. In a fair fight, with both guys healthy and both people having equal knowledge of one another, Kenshin would wax him. Hiko is by far the most powerful. Watsuki said it himself in the manga.

I agree with DK....and Hiko belongs at the top of the list definitely....He would whoop shishio in no time.

EDIT: This is also one of the BEST animes of all time.
