Default Inuyasha Returns - Jul. 24th, 2009, 08:38 PM

Quote:
This year's 34th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine will announce next Wednesday that an Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen (Inuyasha Final Chapter) television adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's manga has been green-lit. The anime will broadcast on Japan's YTV this fall and cover the story in volumes 36 to 56 of the manga — the final 21 compiled book volumes. The original staff and cast will reunite for the new anime adaptation.

Shonen Sunday had promised earlier this month that it will be including a special news announcement about Inuyasha in issue #34. Takahashi had ended the Inuyasha manga in the same magazine last June. She has been serializing a new manga called RIN-NE (Kyōkai no Rinne) in the magazine as well as on TheRumicWorld.com website for North America readers since April 22. Viz Media has been releasing the Inuyasha manga in North America, and it has also released the original 2000-2004 television anime adaptation.

Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, it makes sense, and could start a promising trend of anime based on manga continuing even several years after the anime stopped to finish the manga storyline. On the other hand, Inuyasha kind of sucks when I really think about it. I'm sure I'll check it out. Some of the later fights could be pretty sweet animated.

ha yeah I was thinking the same thing. Is any one even interested in Inuyasha any more? I mean, I'm sure people will watch it, but there isn't the same kind of fanfare around that manga towards the end as there is for, say, Full Metal Alchemist. But I'm sure I'll check it out. Like I said, some of the fights could be pretty sweet animated.

It's about time it was finished. I don't even remember where the series stopped. They always started over on adult swim whenever I started to get interest. That is what made me start losing interest. But as long as they Seshomaru some good air time I'll be happy.

yeah I don't remember exactly what happened, either. And unlike the new FMA, this is a continuation, not a reboot, so we're probably expected to have a certain level of familiarity with the story (hopefully there will be some flashback to start, though). And Inuyasha isn't good enough for me to invest enough time to watch all 160+ episodes from now until this starts airing. On a positive note, apparently a LOT of Inuyasha was filler scattered throughout. So this new series shouldn't be too long, since there's no reason for filler. Less source material (21 volumes as opposed to 35) + no filler = much better paced story and much shorter, both of which are good in my opinion.

Inuyasha is one of those series that has potential to be good, but got destroyed by pointless fillers and aimless wandering. Hence the anime just kind of fizzled out. I could really care less if they continue on with it. I'll watch it if I'm up at 4am and buzzed and it's the only thing on. But I won't waste my time downloading it.

God damned business Iguanas and their leather suits... They're buying up everything.

I do hope so...

I don't quite remember the story line for the 160+ episodes before either.... May be would read the manga up to volume 35 before watching, but only when I'm free. It's been around 5 years already... I forgot almost everything, except Sesshoumaru

yup. I remember most of the stuff dealing with Sesshoumaru. I also remember Kikyo was still alive... and that's about it. I don't even know what form Naraku was in at the end of the series, or how many Naraku Spawns were around.
