I really have high hopes for this new one. I mean, it's not like Death Note where it followed the manga plotline exactly until the very end, wherein then it would be stupid to resurrect a series that's been completed.
What I'm just concerned about is the fact that the first anime already had the manga beginning, so what I think they might do is either start it right when the old anime drifted away from the manga, or make a new beginning to it.
But I'm happy we might (or probably) get to see Lin Yao, May Chang, and Lanfan. I hope Romi Park comes back to Ed's voice, ^^
Meh, I'm gonna go see if I can watch it...
*Random "10 Minutes Later" Edit* Oh dear lord, they've switched a lot of voice actors. It seems Fumiko Orikasa does Hawkeye's voice now. But you all know who she is, right?
My name is Kuro
I believe I'm still a member of the Moo Factory. As The Twilight Dairy Fairy.
You know, like "dawn"=night, "twilight"=morning. Not to be confused with the Twilight media franchise every girl and her aunt seem to be obsessed with.

Full Metal Alchemist season 2 Discussion -
Apr. 5th, 2009, 05:16 PM
Ok, on this thread you guys can discuss the new season of FMA. New thread because the old one had more predictions than discussions and also the new FMA deserves a new discussion thread due to the popularity. Also to avoid confusion.
Please do not create seperate epsiode threads. ALL new epsiodes can be discussed here.
Looks like they gave FMA a fresh start. Kind of disappointed with the episode because it was extremely fast paced and they have started it fresh. It was awesome to see a glimpse of Kimblee, my fav. character from FMA. Also Bradley going Byakuya on Ice xD
Has anyone noticed that the voice actor of Roy Mustang is the same as Urahara Kisuke?

of course it had to start from scratch. If you read the manga, you'd realize how vastly different the anime was from the manga. The point of this new series to follow the manga plotline closer. There was no way they could do that without starting all over again, as they had reinvented it so completely.
To all those who were disappointed, just give it time. The manga story is much better than the first series (like, MUCH better... the discrepency is similar to the Soul Society Arc and the Bounto Arc of Bleach). It'll pick up and blow your minds.

I was...amused? with this episode, but as a person who reads the manga, I wanted it to follow the manga so much more closely right from the start. Sure we got to see Kimblee (who is my favorite character. I love his personality). But I thought he, and a few other elements were introduced too early if it's going to follow the manga (which I hope it does).
Among the things I thought were too early are Kimblee, King Bradley's sword prowess plus speed, the idea of Father (those two short bits of few frames), and the whole situation as a whole that's happening in the underlying plot. Imo, I thought we could have done without this episode and could have just skipped to Lior as it does in the first anime and the manga. But, I suppose we have this episode to differentiate this series from the last. I hope they don't move the timeline around as they did with the first either (explaining how the Ed became a State Alchemist is a prime example from the first and possibly the only one. I can't remember).
I don't know. I'll continue watching and see how it goes.

I'm not so disappointed that I'm going to go cry. If I hadn't been following the manga I'd probably be saying something like "Wow, that was awesome! I can't wait to find out what everything was all about!" I don't know. I was expecting something different. I wasn't exactly disappointed with the results (after all we saw Mustang become useless for a bit. lol), just had a few small issues with introducing a few things a little early imo. I enjoyed it for the most part because it makes you wonder what the hell is actually going on. Plus, I was able to see Kimblee.
I will say that the first episode overall was very well done for remaking the entire series. I enjoyed the animation and hope to expect more like it as it continues to come out.
EDIT: I found the music to fit well with the scenes they chose to match with it and I like how they ended the episode between Ice and Bradley. Despite any minor objection I have stated, I thought this was first episode was more a draw-in than the first series's pilot.
