zetsu? you're right, he didn;t avoid attacks he could have avoided. In the midst of battle he was coughing up blood, maybe itachi was severly injured before the fight.

Amaterasu reaches the white snake, and it burns too.

Close-up on Itachi. It's pretty gross. At this point, it starts raining.

Zetsu disappears under some leaves. Sasuke gazes intently at the finger Itachi poked his forehead with. Sasuke smiles (evil grin) and falls unconscious by Itachi's side.

Hinata says something when looking at Madara with Byakugan, but I skipped it. 'cuz it just wasn't all that big a deal. Sorry.

Incidentally, he refers to Madara using the character 鳶, which is read "Tobi", meaning "Black kite (a bird of prey)." He also writes byakugan as using the other character for eye.

It wasn't like "thanks, bro." It's was kinda like "heh!" Also, the white snake(s) was burned beyond a trace by Amaterasu.

i dunno, iv seen some spoilers work out before that seemed crazier at the time then this. either way though, im inclined not to believe some parts (the part about hebi is one of them. they are fighting kisame) but some seem pretty standand in the flow of the manga so far

Guys, check this link out - Naruto - Chapter 394 Spoilers ZeroZero//A.V.A.L.O.N Project

It seems that Itachi's not dead but in "x.x" state or something - according to the pic (Close-up of Itachi's face). He's in same state as Ichigo's state after Ulquiorra pwned him - Bleach episode 164), thats my opinion. Wishful opinion maybe

well Ichigo is the main character so he can lie down with his eyes open, lose tons of blood and not die but for Itachi that is a different story
