naruto,Not as bad as people claim it is
It was the
anime that initially hooked me into the series. When I found out about the
manga, I read it until the newest scans, which was around the first meeting with Itachi. Since then, I read it weekly.
Naruto had great potential in the beginning. The story kept me entertained throughout the first part of the series. But I started to slightly lose interest when the Sasuke-chase was going on. Because I read it weekly, it felt like an eternity until some progress showed. Still, it was very entertaining.
Naruto went from "WOW, this is AWESOME" to " Hmm.. interesting" to " It is ok...", because of the friggin' slow pace.
Then came the 'Shippuuden'. Which was interesting at first, but somehow there were so many 'deus-ex machina' involved and last minute killer jutsu's, that it lost a lot of credibility. And the pacing is not very helpful neither. But still, it was enjoyable to read. Not one of the best, but certainly not one of the worst.
Recently I re-read the Viz-version of Naruto ( ART OF THE DOPPELGANGER?!?) and I was actually pleasantly surprised it. If you read the chapters as part of volumes, and volumes as a part of the overall story, the pacing suddenly seems less craptastic and at times, it was even quite enjoyable. I noticed a lot more subtle references and enjoyed it more than my first read.
So what I found out was the fact that, if you read Naruto as a whole story, the flow is much better and the enjoyment- factor multiple times bigger.
Bashing
Naruto and giving it 1's is immature and not needed. Give it an objective view and refrain from bashing it because it is so popular.
