I asked myself that, too. I don't think it's a bloodline trait. She hasn't showed any unusual abilities - ever...

I wondered that myself, but passed it off as just one of those coloring things. But with everyone, other than the Hyuga clan, having the normal black, brown, blue, and green eyes, unless their kekkei genkai is activated.. perhaps Kurenai does have something that we won't find out about until... [spoiler]her baby is born[/spoiler]
