Best program

I have been using Microsoft Gif Animator to make sprites. I just wanted to know if there where any better programs to use.

Well i pretty doubt cause all programms has the same idea in different ways ( you draw, and it makes gif, or from a video captures few pictures and put them together, and there is 3D text gifs and so on ) all that differences is effects. Maybe now somethings different but i really dont think someone has thought out something revolucionary
