Sorry, I just had to say that. Private servers are not even close to what the live ones are.
Imo they destroy the feeling of the game for those who never tried real one.
I'm not saying WoW is the best game ever, but it is still very fun. I played it for a long time, but not anymore. It's too time-consuming.
I had three level 70 characters. Two alliance, one horde (I regret I played alliance for so long).

I started playing the game when it was released, for almost 6 months, then I have played in periods of maybe 2-3 months each, with a break of 3 months between them.
I have retired now, but I might try out the new expansion some day. I gave the account to a friend, who is now raiding BT with my paladin ^_^
