This is true. With the gunblade you could apply extra damage by pressing, I believe, L1 at the right moment.

i couldn't deside between squall and tidus ,i love them both as for my favorite FF characters are:
tifa,yuffie,rikku,rinoa ,squall and tidus ,zack from ff7 ,i didn't like cloud that much and sephiroth .

Squall was way too emo. Plus, his cool factor wore off once Rinoa displayed his testicles on her shelf. I mean, it's one thing for the cold hero to thaw out a bit during the course of the game (or movie, or tv show, or whatever), but Squall just became a huge bitch once the romantic element of the game kicked in.

Also, to the person who created this poll, you should take Vaan off. He's not the lead character in XII. It's really Ashe

Who said so???he was as cool in the end of the game as in the beginning ,plus a character must change a bit during the story ,it is called character development and that was one of the reasons FF8 is one of my favorites ,you simply can't expect a character to stay the same all the game it is boring

Meaning, I acknowledge the need for character development, and I appreciate it. But Squall going from the Lone Wolf to a complete pussy-whipped pansy spitting out awful lines that belong in a terrible Kate Hudson romantic comedy ("no matter what happens, even if you become the world's worst enemy, I'll be your knight") was just too drastic a change. Never felt real. It wasn't development to me... it was a different character, and one that I didn't like.
