Graphics Comparison between Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 -
Jul. 16th, 2009, 01:49 PM
Alright, I'm sick and tired of hearing that the PS3 has better graphic capabilities than Xbox 360. Well, that seems to be true for the graphics of the games they each have (like GoW 3, Uncharted 2 and MGS 4 for Ps3 and all). But the fact is, the fanboys of the Ps3 should be saying the graphics of the GAMES of Ps3 are better than those of Xbox 360 NOT the consoles themselves that they imply most of the time which is pure unadulterated bullshit. How I know? Check this out.

Graphics: The XBOX 360 is a clear winner. The GPU is more powerful. It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower. Part of the reason is their choice of memory, and architecture of pixel and vertex procesing. I cant get into details but the same vertex shader will run much slower on the PS3 than the XBOX 360. The 360 also has a clever new way rendering high definition anti aliased back buffers. To accomplish the same effect on PS3 is prohibitively expensive. For this reason I think many games will have no choice but to run in non-HD resolutions on the PS3 version, use a lower quality anti aliasing technique, or do back buffer upscaling. The end result in all cases is going to be noticeably worse image quality.

The Xenos GPU on the XBOX 360 is superior the RSX on the PS3. This is one thing that didn’t change in the past year.

The fact is, XBOX 360’s Xenos GPU itself has far more computing power than the RSX GPU that resides in the PS3.

I have seen a lot of multiple console game son both the 360 and the ps3 and IMO multiple console games are now identical to each other, 360 was better like 2 years ago but the dev are mastering the ps3 coding challenge and can make them in par with 360.
But the exclusives seems to be more beautiful on the ps3.
But each time the ps3 take it up, the same happens on the 360.
So in the end it's all a matter of opinion and taste, cuz when playing a action game, you don't have time to sit around and check for all the little detail that will show the difference between the 2.
It's not based on anyone else opinion than my own.
Blame the others!

The battle between these two systems have been raging since their conception. I personally prefer the Xbox 360. I feel it has a much stronger online service and a better game and developer base. The 360 has become more and more dominant over the PS3 in sales and just continues to rise. HOWEVER, the PS3 does have its redeeming qualities. The PS3 certainly looks better than the 360 in terms of the outer appearance. I love how the PS3 operates on a dollar base rather than the point system Microsoft uses. Also, the PS3 is the absolute best Blu-Ray hardware on the market. If you know anything about Blu-ray you know that it requires occasional updates to the hardware for better features and what not which the PS3 is the only one to have these updates available. Also, the online service is free which is a big plus however, you get what you pay for. It doesn't have the best servers by far. It lags much more than the 360. In trying to be bias aside I really do think the 360 is an overall better system. That wouldn't stop me from owning a PS3 though.

Truthfully I don't see that much difference at 1080p. Both seem to look incredible. PS3 should be above 360 due to the use of blu-ray discs based games. But 360 games are also at HD quality so that is not even a factor. I like the PS3 better than 360. But I will admit the 360 performs so much better in some cases than 360.

the ring of death only happens once in a while nowadays... in fact most 360s don't even have that problem... I myself have never gotten the ring of death... because I bought a version of the 360 that came out after they figured out that the heatsink gel that they were using was crappy and they started using a better type... honestly the ring of death is easy to fix yourself... I have watched my friend do it multiple times... that is how he got his 3 360s... people gave him their "broken" 360s and all he had to do is put a better heat sink compound on the processor...

I thought the fact was that PS3 has better potential and all that shit, but the fact was that the games were not much better than the 360 ones. In fact the 360 ones were better because third-party developers had more money to use for 360.
But I guess I was somewhat wrong.

I have both systems, I play both a lot, I can honestly say that graphically there is VERY little difference. I do think PS3 looks better though, but only visually. 360 moves so much smoother, though. Particulaly in sports games. PS3 movement looks awkward. Graphics on PS3 are more vivid. But it's not very noticeable, and it really doesn't matter. Wii outsells them all and by far has the worst graphics. Who cares about graphics? Get good games that have mass appeal, and it's all good.

I honestly think that both systems pale in comparison to the PC. True that you might have to spend more money to build a high-end PC, but PC has just so much more value than a system.
And no one can argue that the PC does not have the biggest game library, which is what the Xbox360 and PS3 are mainly meant for.
PC would win the war any day.
