Where do the people that use the deathnote go after they die?

It said that people who use the deathnote don't go to heaven of hell, does that mean that they go to the shinigami realm and become a shinigami?

it's not that deathnote user dont go to heaven or hell when they die. Ryuuku stated in chapter 107 that "Deathnote users shouldn't worry about going to Heaven or Hell" because "Heaven and Hell does not exist. In the afterlife, whatever you've done in your life, you will still go to the same place. Death is Equal."

Therefore, when you die, whether you are a deathnote user or not, you go no where. Your death is the end of the line.

Also you asked if they didnt go to heaven or hell doesn't that mean that they go to the shinigami realm and become a shinigami?

then Yagami Light would become what he always wanted, to become a god. With that power he would then kill Near and everyone else that worked with Near. But then L and Near would become Shinigami because the moment they touched the notebook, they became Deathnote users. So if L became a Shinigami, Light would have been killed in a couple of days.

I only saw the anime and I thought that only ppl who write in the notebook would actually become a shinigami...did you see the special 2 n a half hour Death Note episode ? There is a shinigami coming to find Ryuuk and asking him stuff about the human world..but I dont think that was L or Light XD..but about ur spoiler..did L write in the notebook? .

No L didnt write in the note book, he only touched it so he could see ryuuku.

so if he didn't write then he didn't actually use it,but here what i think ,i think he will become a shinigami but after he loses all his memories and thoughts from his past life,so in conclusion the light that wanted to change the world will no longer exist,and so he also won't be able to get revenge because he longer remember that

that is what we think ,but some says that will give light what he wanted from the first place and then he could do his plan easier ,that why the memory lose theory came up

When and if Light dies it would be cool to see what he looks like as a shinigami. But I think anyone who uses a deathnote goes to the shinigami world and in time he would become a shinigami

Ha ha, yes, exactly. Nothingness awaits them.

I'd personally dislike if Light or L became shinigamis, it'd defeat their characters and the purpose of the plot to me, whether they retained their memories or not.
