Discussion: Do you think Kira was doing the right thing?

Ok, Do you guys think Kira (Light) was doing the right thing?

Killing the bad guys, Striking fear into the innocent so that crimes would stop. Considering himself God and everything.

Well the act in itself is right. Problem is it's impossible with the corruptness of this world.
But the fact that he killed all that opposed him was a total opposite of all the ideals he stood for.
All in all, Light was a just hypocrite with power..

Yup yup, If he wasn't a hypocrite thought (Like in the first episodes when he killed "L" aka. Jail guy, if he hadn't had done that and kept himself pure), how do you see it?

Mmm, in another forum they were WAY more into this, because they said that killing people even if they did something bad in itself is a bad thing, which makes Light a bad person= Killing bad people is itself bad, But someone has to do it, but Light itself with power became corrupted and tried to build his own empire with fear and killing. But in the same way even if he killed and killed he can't destroy evil forever, cause at the end, the only bad person left will be himself. The after he dies the fear is gone and people will commit crimes again and just see it as an age where crime died.

Well sure.. I never said this way was perfect.. There is no other way though.
Most crimes occur because people think either they won't be caught or that the punishment is worth risking. When they know there is someone like a god who will kill them for doing this they will stop.. Eventually.

So you don't believe in the real life law, judge system?

I agree with you, laws only apply to the poor which sucks, governors, wars, everything is influenced by money. The world is rotten and even if someone like Kira comes out, he won't be able to win, 1 person passing judgment on the whole world can't happen, so law takes care of the poor while the rich and wealthy kill and bribe whoever they want without problems.

I don't think Kira is doing the right thing. It's to bad that L dies in Kira's process to make a new Utopia and become the god of his little sick world!

okay first,you shouldn't spoil it that L gets kira Lynnsiana,for those who have not finished watching it,i feel bad for you. now in order to make a perfect world,you need to sacrifice certain things.it's not fair that someone goes to jail works out,watches tv,make wages(yes prisoners get pay roll in prison for certain jobs) and come out and do the same thing all over again.would you grant the same rights to a rapist?a child molester?cheating on taxes is one thing but what if someone did something to a member of your family?don't tell me revenge is not on the menu.even god did some smiting in the old testament.it was a blood bath.and trust me a flood to wipe out most of mankind does not a pool party make.so yes he was doing a public service if you ask me.the only crime he committed was doing what a lot of people were to afraid to do.hail kira!

well... in a certain sense I have even brought up with friends as others probly have to that the whole punishment system is flawed... if you kill, be killed.. don't let them rot in jail being fed, having a place to live, and such.. that's just a waste of land, and our tax dollars... all for what, they sit there and think about what they did, and then after long time they get released back into the public to 'hopefully' not kill or crime again? and even if they change their ways what good is it, they have no place to go, probly no one that will take care of them, and finding a job would be difficult.. so they'd rather have our tax dollars paying them to live a quiet life than being a feared bum on the streets.
If we just got rid of violent criminals and showed the world we mean business when we want us to grow up safe then there wouldn't be bullying, and people losing their lives, their possesions gettin stolen, their homes being burned down.. cars and stuff vandalized..
I'm pretty sick of it, people are always looking for that "nice neighborhood" where everyone is nice and happy and good people, but I've seen it all over the years in different neighborhoods slowly becoming tainted with evil and people start fearing for their child's safety, no one gets to have fun anymore and more people get hurt.

I'm tired of it... Light did the right thing.. he just went overboard and synical at the same time, if he thought properly in the beginning how to keep any suspicion off him he'd have done a better job.. like not using police files from you friggin' dad's (who's the chief) pc.
