(Skip down to the bottom of the post if you don't want to read the facts, and just sign it already.)
I read about
Donnie Darko 2 last year, and thought it sounded cool that they were going to make a sequel to it. Back then, I didn't know anything about the plot in it, but because I love the original film, I thought it was pretty nice.
Anyhow, they are now making
S. Darko, which is set 7-8 years after the original. Instead of Darko, it's about his little sister (Samantha), who is now 18. She and a friend are going on a road trip, and on their way, they stumble upon some upon some strange happenings.
This is a short description of the plot, found on
IMDB:

The story picks up seven years after the first film when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions.

The director of the original film,
Richard Kelly, is not in any way related to this follow-up.
To cite him:
"To set the record straight, here's a few facts I'd like to share with you all -- I haven't read this script. I have absolutely no involvement with this production, nor will I ever be involved."
Chris Fisher is directing
S. Darko, with the motivation
"I am a great admirer of Richard Kelly's film and hope to create a similar world of blurred fantasy and reality."
Unfortunately, his former work is really nothing to cheer about. Hopefully he can manage to not ruin this totally. For sure, this will be nothing worth seeing as a sequel, but maybe it will be okay if you overlook that fact.
Fortunately,
S. Darko won't be played at cinemas at all. They will release it straight to DVD at April 28th this year. We can only wait and see what happens.
My goal with this post was to ask you to sign the petition against this sequel.
Donnie Darko was a fabulous film, and we don't want it to be ruined like this. It is probably too late to change anything now, but for the sake of it, please sign it if you agree with me and the other
1100+ who already signed it.

Thank you, and I hope I didn't write too much.
