Default Sword buying? - 06-13-2008

Hey I was just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. Im looking to buy a sword, but im very very picky. I would like one that is made of carbon steel or battle ready of somes sort (so I can at least play around with it even if that doesnt mean getting into any really cool swordfights). I was also trying to find that in a replica bleach sword, though it has been hard for me to find a battle ready one. If anyone has any good sites that sells items like that, or knows of any custom shops I would be very grateful to be informed of those. Thanks.

Just do it, I don’t like it either! Now, we head towards the battlefield! Believe, and our blades will not break! Believe, and our hearts will not bend! Though the roads we have take may be different but our iron hearts will beat as one! Swear, that even if earth torn asunder, we will live and return here once again!

well if you want a "battle ready" bleach sword your pretty much out of luck..but there are a few you could get to practice with...if you want one that wont rust and is fairly maintinence free find a stainless steel one..but be warned if you want to use it for excessive use because stainless steel gets brittle after about ten inches....carbon steel requires you maintinence it if you dont want it to rust but its fairly simple...if you want a really strong sword you can cut just about anything with i would reccomend any cold steel sword...they have some of the best blades you can get....or a hanwei sword....any would suffice...but if you want a really strong blade go for an L6 banite or tamahagane blade.....but if you want decent quality for a reasonable price id say the hanwei practical series.....im not going into any more detail on blades because it would take way more time than im willing to spend to explain it......but if you want a bleach sword...my advice is dont be too picky..youll never get one thats good quality...some are decent but there isnt very many..and there arnt very many of them actually made decently....ive seen three...ichigos bankai...and renji and toushiros unreleased forms...and i think i found uraharas released form of benihime too.....and a very poorly made version of momo's tobiume in its unreleased form......so i hope your willing to settle for that cuz thats all ive seen...and i have looked...

So you want to buy a functional replica Bleach sword. The title in itself is a major problem. It's very rare to find a functional REPLICA. The fact that it's called a replica means that it's not made for functionality, but made rather for it's appearance. There is however, one blade that meets your picky needs. There is a replica of Zabimaru out there that is a Full Tang, battle ready high carbon steel (1045 Carbon Steel) Be careful though, the one that is carbon steel is a Red sword (Linked here) There is also a black one out there, but that is made of Stainless Steel, which is not designed for striking objects with (IT WILL BEND lol)

You can also buy the black Bushido Musashi Koga Black Ninja Sword, remove the guard, and replace it with the Tensa Zangetsu's Guard, which can be found at Swords, Knives, Daggers, Medieval Swords : SwordsSwords. I've done business with both trueswords.com and swordsswords.com, and they're both reliable.

I just bought the Bushido Musashi Kyuba no Michi. It's a full tang High carbon steel (1045), and the thing is a beast. It cuts a solid 5 inches into plywood without doing any damage to the blade. Pretty much any of the Bushido Musashi blades are really good beater swords. They're only about $60-$70 US, and they're all awesome quality, and can be fully disassembled if you wanted to buy other guards to make them look like replicas.

You're already on the right track though. Any High Carbon Steel Blade (1045 and up) is a good sword as long as it's full tang. Carbon Steel doesn't rust too easily, however like any good sword it requires maintenance (I've included a site where maintenance is easily explained) Whatever you do decide to go with, please use them with caution. A sword is not a toy, and I've seen a lot of people get hurt because they straight up didn't know how to use or swing a sword. Swords for Sale - A Buyers Guide is an awesome resource site for online sword buying, sword reviews, and online sword instructions. Enjoy, and have fun.

I can't speak for replicas cuz i don't have or want any, i can only speak for Iaito and Shinken. But you said that you wanted one that can cut, so that leaves us with just shinken (shinken means real sword) And i guess you can't afford a real handmade? they can be very expencive minimum price is about 600$.
But you can always look at paul chen or hanwei who claims to make handmade sword (thou it is not) They have some swords with a live blade to some affordable prices. And yes most off their swords has a full tang. Of course i don't own any of their sword myself, but i have friends that do.
