Nel vs Noitora....What if?

I was just reading the manga chapter where adult Nel goes one on one with Noitora. Now although in the past he was never able to beat Nel, in the present he seemed to be holding his own pretty well after he overcame his initial shock. However when Nel performed her release she was able to turn the tables on him but was not able to follow through cause she turned back to her child form. Now I was wondering if Noitora had performed his release who do you think would have won.

Dude do you know the reason for the ranks?They are based on power. Nel when she was the no.3 she was in fact powerful than Nnoitra. But when Aizen came in, Nnoitra became more powerful after he took care of Nel. You remember what Dordiinni said? If you do, you won't be arguing about this. Nnoitra, in his present state, is (or more like was because he is dead) more powerful than Neliel. All of the new ranks are more powerful than their previous counterparts.

I believe Nel is more powerful. Nnoitra was ranked 8th when Nel was 3rd. That's a 5 spot gap. Analyze the current difference between Ulquiorra (4th) and Zomari (7). Ulquiorra waxed Ichigo without even using a sword, while Zomari was killed without Byakuya even trying. That's only a 3 spot differentce. Is it conceivable that Zomari could have ever reached Ulquiorra's strength level if he never died? I don't think so, and that's why I don't think Nnoitra ever caught Nel.

I think the question is, why doesn't Nel's number mean anything? Maybe she was one of the original Espada (Zomari said that Aaroniero was the last of the originals). Now, obviously there has been a lot of turnover in Espada, but that has nothing to do with Nnoitra. How did he get stronger? Can the Hougyoku make Arrancar more powerful, or can it only affect the strength of Arrancar it creates (like Wonderweiss)? That's the main question to me. If Nnoitra just got stronger by training and consuming weaker beings, I don't think he could've natrually closed the gap between him and Nel. However, if Aizen was able to give him strength, then it's possible he surpassed Nel. They never specified why Nnoitra was promoted, so without that knowledge it's hard to say how much stronger he got. Personally, I'm sticking with Nel. The gap was too large in my opinion.
