Komamura Saijin -
Jul. 28th, 2009, 09:41 PM
Ok so since it looks like he will now get his true air time for the show... and some people have now actually realized how cool he is. Lets discuss him.
What are yalls thoughts on where he was born/made? Is there a animal/alien race in soul society.?
It also has just crossed my mind. Maybe he has a special technique due to him being special....?
In my opinion he is a great leader and strong mentally as we have seen.. as he just jumped in to tell the vizards that they are helping (without the old mans command). And how he likes to get the job done. Not just play around and hide his bankai which we see alot from the other captains which is prolly why he is still standing haha. I could even see him becoming a eligible candidate for Captain Commander from his leading skills (even tho he may lack in the strength but who knows).
I also wouldn't mind to see him young>?< Like going through training to become a captain and going in the classes. I think Tite skipped that and it was a mistake because it would be really cool to see how he excelled in his class. Maybe use some kido?
Anyways just wanted to start a discussion thread on my favorite character. Don't bash me if this is alittle to much just comment on the questions.

as I've said before, I've gained a lot of respect for him, as only he and Hitsugaya seem to be treating this battle as the serious War it is. I posted a new list in the "Top 5 characters" thread, and as of now he's a close 2nd to Yoruichi. Beasting Tousen could elevate him above her.
As for his origin, I think it's safe to say he's unique. He wouldn't have had to hide his face all those years otherwise. But I don't really know HOW he's unique. The more I think about it, the more I wonder: what does a soul REALLY look look like relative to a human? Have we ever definitively seen a person in the real world die and go to Soul Society? Did we ever see any of the current Shinigami in their real world forms via flashbacks? Did we ever see Yuuichi as a boy (would've had to be a flashback) before he entered SS, or was it just as a bird? (Obviously, Ichigo, Chad, etc. aren't the same, so don't cite them as examples, as they haven't died).
I bring it up because I wonder if it's possible that the physical form the soul takes doesn't resemble the physical form of the being in the real world. When Komamura was in the real world, is it possible he was just a regular human, and his soul took the form of this weird dog thing because those were the characteristics of the human's personality, not his physique?

Yes I see what your saying but is there more to it? Like would it be odd to see a humanlike rhino walking around I mean he is the ONLY, and if you think about it the only animal/human in soul society, or that we know of.. What if there was a clan, like on the outskirts of soul society, that was animal like humans... that had turned into that form when they passed over. (like close to where that lady lived with the big cannon...(forgot her name).
Also just wanted to point this out.... I've always realized this just never really put it together but recently in episode 230. Saijin is really close to the Old Man. If you think back to the SS arc we would always see him in the captains chambers along side the CC. He seems to never get any bad feedback from the CC and just like in the manga went on ahead to say what he said. Maybe Yamamoto respects what he thinks, since he is well spoken. Also just in the episode 230, when the new villian says that the CC isn't around anymore he got pissed off. But he was calling Yamamoto .. Genryuusai-dono. I don't think I have ever heard someone call the Old man that. Maybe this will help us to understand how he came to be.

I think he was used as a test subject for kido and got turned in his fox/dog-human form.

Yama took Komamura in and he "owes him his life." They are VERY close. He even abandoned Tousen during the Zaraki fight to go towards Yama because he felt his reiatsu in combat. I'd say after Kyoraku and Ukitake, Komamura is the closest captain to Yama.
Another interesting thing I just realized: there are a ton of animal-like spirit creatures... but they're hollows. Grimmjow was a panther, Halibel was a shark, etc. Maybe Komamura just defied the odds to become a Shinigami.

Yeah, when he had that flashback with Tousen he said that he wanted to become shinigami to repay the debt to the man that saved his life. Tite really needs to shed more light on this cause Komamura is truly a great captain, that many fans tend to underestimate.

Darth I can see what your saying because Komamura does seem like to have the will power to do something like that. And I really do hope Tite shows some more on him in the past.. he is prolly one of the most unique/prideful captains.

Is Komamura's age counted in dog years? If it is then he might even be older than Yamamoto
