Ulquiorra's Heart -
Jun. 21st, 2009, 02:05 PM
So i was reading that great fight between the 4th espada and Ichigo....
One part showed him reaching out to Inoue, asking her if she was afraid, blah blah....then the next page had "entrusted with a heart" with Uluq....
So did he and Inoue have a thing goin on or somethin? From what i see he loved her, but wtf? He sure didn't show it till that point so its kinda weird. And Inoue...it seemed like, atleast at the end, she felt for him too....lol but again, wtf? He was always talking about killing her and Ichigo.
I was hoping to get some answers from some more fans cuz i cant put everything together for a solid answer, so what do you all think? Did Uluq have a heart for Inoue? And is this the reason Aizen told him to "watch over her?"
....PS....if Uluq tapped that, which is funny but im seriously considering it, she's probably pregnant with somethin' right....Is this what Aizen is possibly up too?
-Half Espada, and whatevere Inoue has...Would be a powerful child.

It's really not clear. And of all the open-ended mystery statements in the history of Bleach, one of the most baffling is Ulquiorra's assertion that Orihime was already "one of us." I honestly have no clue what he meant by that (or even if there is a deeper meaning), but I'm fairly certain we can rule out pregnancy...
Anyway, I don't think Ulquiorra "loved" Orihime in a traditional sense. At least, I hope he didn't. I think he was intrigued by her, and perhaps even a little jealous of her and Ichigo. Not because of any weird romantic triangle thing, but because of how much their "hearts" changed them. When Orihime was kidnapped, she looked like a frail, vulnerable girl who could easily be manipulated. As he got to know her, she proved her resolve was strong, and it was only because of her heart and compassion. She was able to draw strength from her friends. Same with Ichigo... Ulquiorra concluded that Ichigo was stronger because of Orihime and his friends fighting below, and Ichigo's determination to keep fighting actually made Ulquiorra lose his temper (the first, and only, time he actually yelled). Ulquiorra was curious about the concept of heart, and throughout the battle he was trying to prove the futility of something so abstract. But of course, he failed, and I think he learned the value of "heart" through Orihime. I hope there's nothing else to it.
As for Orihime's feelings about him... all I can say is she just unconditionally empathizes with any one. It seems ridiculous to pity a guy who just put a hole through Ichigo's chest, but whatever. Orihime is just that caring, I guess. I think it's safe to say she didn't love him, though.

To only back up what Kenshin said, :P...
She's not a purely benevolent person. She just understands others a lot better than most people.
And with Ulquiorra's (Kyeh kyeh) deathly aspect being "nihilism", the belief that everything is meaningless, I think what he meant is...maybe Orihime somehow taught him to believe everything isn't worthless.
Or something along those lines,

You know, like "dawn"=night, "twilight"=morning. Not to be confused with the Twilight media franchise every girl and her aunt seem to be obsessed with.

I agreed! I still don't get why people think they have something for each other?

Dude, I was seriously laughing while reading your post. Everything has to be about love, I mean, really get real people. Not every character falls in love.
The heart probably ment that he could feel. Or that he finally understood that there is a purpose for everything and that a heart with feelings does exist. This is why he asked Inoue if he jams his hand on her chest will he see a "heart" or whatever he did. He didn't show that heart because he "loved" her, he showed to say he understood to a certain degree probably what the whole situation was about, like why Ichigo cared for his friends, and why Inoue said all that crao she said when Ulq and her were alone.
Basically, he saw his own mistake in everything he said about feelings, purpose in life and so on, and therefore opened himself up before he died.
No love her, stop kidding yourself really. Getting sick of everyone wanting everyone to get in love. If you want romance, go watch a shojou anime...

I think some of Orhime's humanity rubbed off on Ulquiorra, and being around him toughned her up a bit. The hands reaching out for each other was an odd thing I suppose. It implied they had feelings for each other but I think this was more akin to a kidnapper/hostage syndrome thing.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again.
