Default Espadas Representing Death? - Jun. 19th, 2009, 07:24 AM

So I've heard.
Do you guys think this is really true?
I mean...
Spoiler: Hallibel
I know she wanted to get "revenge" for the supposed deaths of Mila-Rose, Sunsun and Apache, but we don't really know if Toshirou killed her or not, as of now, right?

Or with how much Nel already has in common with her, it should be hinted that Nel's aspect of death would be sacrifice as well?
Spoiler: Nel (better safe than sorry)
(As in the reason her Fraccion hid her being a former Espada is because she din't like fighting, and if she was a child, she wouldn't HAVE to fight, therefore, losing her adult form/Espada rank would have been her "sacrifice")

Besides being an ASPECT of death (which, if any of you have looked on the Bleach Wiki, like I have previously, their respective aspects are listed in their profiles)...what about being a CAUSE of death as well? Although it might be a long-shot and a little off topic from my original point, don't you think this could be even a remote possiblity?

I.E.--Barragan's "aspect" of death would be old-age, correct? It could be a cause of death as well. Or with Hallibel, drowning *hint* her water-themed resurrecion...or like Barragan's, Szayel's could be the same--"insanity" [something we've all seen in *hint* Soul Eater]...it made me think of this as Yammay's aspect of deah was listed as "rage"...I know atleast some of you must have seen The Grudge, that's main thing is "when someone dies in an extreme state of rage/sorrow" etc.etc.

{But now I'm going to stop rambling, ehehe}

Barragan said that the "10 aspects of death" that the Espada represent are "the 10 reasons people die." So, I guess by that, he really means causes of death, not attributes of death itself, if that makes sense. But I think they're intrinsic causes... so something like disease, which is typically caused by external forces, wouldn't be included.

He also says that they are THE 10 reasons people die. Maybe I'm reading too much into an unofficial translation, but that implies that each of the former Espada had to have one of those specific characteristics. But he never said that it was based on their number... he actually never said what it was based on. It looks like personality, though (certainly not their power). So, Nel might not have been sacrifice when she was an Espada.

(But honestly, I think Tite made this up on the spot, and never accounted for Nel, Luppi, or the Privaron Espada to embody any of the aspects of death)

Not really, because I don't think it's a modern take on it. Can somebody pull up the full list?

Yes, I want to turn this thread into a game really. If somebody can pull up the full list I'm sure we can get a modern twist on it.

The full list of what kinds of death the Espada represent? Here (in their # order):

Stark: Lonliness
Barragan: Old age
Hallibel: Sacrifice
Ulquiorra: Nihilism (whatever the hell that is)*
Nnoitra: Despair
Grimmjow: Destruction
Szayel: Madness/Insanity
Zommari: Intoxication
Aaronerio: Greed
Yammy: Rage

(Ah, nevermind. I looked it up.)

I'm guessing it's something Emo related. I hear it's a cause of death too.

Nihilism is belief that everything is false, that life has no meaning etc. (nihil means nothing).

yeah, and in this context, it's also a "nothing is worth fighting for" belief. That's how it intrinsically contributes to death. We see how characters fighting to protect something (or someone) can go beyond their limits and survive situations they otherwise would not have (this is also the key to strength in DBZ and Rurouni Kenshin). Without those beliefs, death is more accepted.

Question..So i take i that Rage is more owerful than any of them..cuz yammy is supposed to be the strongest Espada with brute strength that is...But he went from 10 to 0. wtf is up with that? So does rage trump all the other reasons? I mean does rage really have the ability to overcome age, nihilism etc??
