Aging in Sereitei -

I was having a discussion about the aging process in sereitei with a friend. I vaguely remember it being explained early in the anime series/manga, but could someone remind me of the rules in regards to aging? Why does Shuuhei grow up, but not Hitsugaya?

Anyway, I don't think it was ever explicity explained. And it certainly varies from person to person. For the most part, they appear to age like humans, but expanded. As in, they grow relatively quickly to maturity, and then stay in their "primes" for a while. This can be seen in the TBTP Arc. The full-grown people we saw 100 years ago (Aizen, Shinji for example) look pretty much the same now, whereas those who were young 100 years ago (Byakuya, Hisagi, Nanao) have matured.
Hitsugaya has in fact aged since his flashback with Momo, Kira, and Renji, but I don't think it was ever stated exactly how long ago that was, so we can't really tell Hitsugaya's rate of aging.

It was never thoroughly explained. They died, it doesn't really matter how. Probably starvation or getting into trouble. They often stole...
