Byakuya betraying Soul Society

Does anyone have any idea/theory to what Byakuya has in mind or is trying to do with the zanpakutou? Do you think he is trying to prove a point to SS that they need to hone their defenses and skills?

Yeah I don't get it either... All he said was something about defending his pride. I don't see how that makes any sense or what it has to do in relation with the zanpaktou revolution. Can anyone clarify for me please?

and have you also noticed when he talks about "his pride" its usually/sometimes about Rukia? but then why would he have destroyed her zanpakutou? maybe to get her out of the revult?

Its pretty clear (to me at least) that he knows something we don't and has the best interest of SS in mind.

He's also referred to zanpakuto's as his pride when he fought Ichigo in the SS arc. When Ichigo claimed to have bankai and released it. He said "I see, with the execution, with the bankai...it seems that you really enjoy stepping on our pride". His pride seems to be a very wide range of things....from Rukia, his family, his zanpakuto, the shinigami, soul society...it's not really clear what is exactly "his pride".

I am assuming he is talking about everything. I dont think Byakuya would betray SS for anything other than SS itself.
With that being said, i dont know what Byakuya is doing, but from what he has done so far is definately grounds for execution.But the major factor is Yama-jii. With Yama being sealed, he can pretty much do what he wants unless Shunsu i and Ukitake get ahold of him.

Agreed, but we all know that won't happen. Not just because, well, it would be stupid and pointless from a story point of view, but also because Kyoraku and Ukitake would need, in my opinion, a bankai to beat Byakuya. There's no way anybody can stop Senbonzakura with Shikai alone, with the exeption of a few (I suppose) like Ichigo (thanks to his Getsuga) and I don't know, Hitsugaya? Who cares. Anyway, agreed, Yama is sealed, he can do whatever the hell he wants to do.

We all know this is non-canon anyway, we can't even take the Zan's appearance as "legit" due to Renji's being..well, human, sort of.

In the end, Byakuya will reveal his plan, Ichigo will help him beat them all (or do it on his own, why not) and everything will be back to normal by the end. Ah the magic of filler.

All i want to know is...is Rukia's Zanpakutou really gone? I dont think Byakuya is really the betraying type, especially with someone like Muramasa...But he did take out girly's sword.

ya i do agree, im curious about what is going to happen with Rukia now that her zan is gone... or so we think? O.o and even if Yama-jii is sealed SS with unseal him after it and then Yama-jii with find out wat Byakuya did. It is also an interesting topic about Byakuya having something else in mind, sorta like Hitsugaya in the second movie
