Strongest Captain? - Excluding Yamamoto! -
Oct. 6th, 2009, 04:23 AM
I've done a search for this topic already and found nothing, I'm very interested to know who you guys consider the strongest captain?
Excluding Yamamoto.
Lets try not to be bias on the choice as well. Let your choice be loosely based on skill, not how "bad ass" he or she may be. Give an example why.
Excluding Yamamoto, I'm going to go with Shunsui Kyouraku being the second strongest. I say this because of we've seen against Stark.

There are three strongest captains after Yamamoto. Shunsui, Ukitake and Unohana. Majority of you are going to say Shunsui but consider this. We haven't seen the other two in action like in which Shunsui has been. Ukitake may be physically weak because of his illness but it has never bothered him during battles (against Yama-jii, Stark- story battles). Then there is Unohana. I know she has insane healing abilities. However, i very much believe that she has some strong offensive ones too. Because in order to be a captain, you have to have a bankai and I just cannot imagine Unohana going bankai and starting healing someone. That would be strange....>.>

Good topic.
If we go by age, experience and the plausible correct reply to this would be Vergil's explanation.
However, I believe that in PURE raw power, Kenpachi is the strongest.
If we go by Bankai potential, Byakuya and Hitsugaya could be there too.

dont say thing like that since u didn't see all of the captains bankai's
maybe unohana is stronger than zaraki if she goes bankai
and ukitake and Shunsui bankai's r still unknown so dont judge things by
incomplete info

It's not incomplete info, it's pure logic.
We've been shown that people get stronger over time.
Ukitake, Unohana and Kyoraku have been captains way longer than anybody else, therefore it would be logical that those three are strongest (all-around)
However, Kenpachi has the strongest spiritual energy, that's also been prooven, therefore he has the most "brute force".
Byakuya and Hitsugaya are still "young" captains, adding to this their original bankai abilities, they have the most potential to become strongest.
In other words, don't disagree for the sake of it, read the full post and understand the logic.
Your argument fell down the tubes the minute you compared Zaraki to Unohana, because that wasn't part of my logic AT ALL, I was just pointing out that the term "strongest" had to be defined, either by overall ability or brute force.
Have a nice day.

Zaraki is a brute, but has the IQ of a retarded monkey. For now Unohana has to be the strongest because she is the only captain that knows how to heal. She must heave some unimaginable Kido powers, and monster reiatsu.Tite must have gave her healing powers because she is one of the oldest captains and caring but she must be as stronger if not stronger like Yamamoto,so I have to say Unohana for now.
If I think about the young captains than Hitsuguya will have more reiatsu,be smarter, and more skilled in battle than any captain before him.He is the youngest captain ever and has admitted his power is still undeveloped.
If we consider the defected captains Aizen is the strongest, but Gin will be stronger than him.

That hasn't been proven by any means... Kenpachi just can't control his reiatsu, so there's always pressure when he's around. We never saw what would happen if one of the other strong captains let their energy loose. But we did see Aizen bring Grimmjow to his knees just by his pure spiritual force. So it's hard to say if someone like Kyoraku could have a similar effect on people if he really wanted to.
I'm taking Ukitake out of the equation... as powerful as he is, the bottom line is he has a severe disease. He can't be on the level of Kyoraku, Unohana, or Aizen (who I'm counting even though he defected).
Potentially, it's probably Hitsugaya. They seem to be making that clear. But right now, I'd go with Unohana. We all know about her healing/defensive abilities, being that she's the captain of Squad 4. What's interesting is that her Offensive rating is 100 in the Book of Souls. I don't put much faith in those numbers (a lot has changed since then) but if she's known to be a phenomenal healer, and she's apparently an offensive beast, she must be pretty strong.

While I agree with you about Unohana, not "every captain has bankai". Zaraki Kenpachi doesn't, right?
Unohana is also one of the older captains as well, at least what we can tell from the TBTP arc.
Unohana also saw through Aizens hypnosis, who else did?

While they do have strong Bankai's, it's stated while Shunsui is talking to Stark about how strong Hitsugaya's Bankai is, he'll maybe be as strong as Shunsui is in another 100 years or so.
A reference to how much stronger Shunsui is compared to Hitsugaya.
