damm I was so happy to see a thread like this but it was just a question well anyway there is no way a second season of death note will come and even if it come it will probably ruin the story like all "sequels" do
The world of Death Note will probably continue in some form. Whether it's a prequel (they made it clear that Light wasn't the first human to stumble across a Death Note) or just further live action representations of the manga, I'd expect to see more Death Note in the future.
hmm...probably not. The anime is over. Light died. But there might be a next season, since not only Light stumbled upon the Death Note as Darth said. I hope there will be a second season...

I think the best bet would be a prequel. Maybe about L, or the other Death Notes. It's popular enough that we should see something more than just the manga and 37 episodes. Again, I'd expect more Live Action interpretations, as well as possible prequel OVAs or movies. The Japanese know how to milk the crap out of a franchise.
If they did make any more death note episodes wether its a prequal or sequal i dont see it doing as good as the episodes that already have been made. But if they did make anymore it would be interesting to see what they did with it
