New theory on Claymore's anime future and suggestions for the fans -
09-19-2007
We all know that Claymore is scheduled to end it's TV broadcast after Episode 26, but the future of the series is still pending as to if any follow ups will be made. The problem is Episode 25 and 26 are showing the very last chapter of the Manga where the final battle between Priscilla and Claire takes place. We also know a LOT of storyline such as the 7 year gap, the backstories of Easley, Miria, and Teresa (these were the Extra releases of the Manga), and Clarice and Maita's entire story arc was left out (mostly due to the 7 year gap being eliminated).
Recently with some TV series of anime in Japan are getting Special Releases of OAVs consisting follow-up short movies and even mini-series as such the case with Ichigo 100% which received 4 full length OAVs, an OAV from the JUMP Festiva in 2004, and a follow up Special even.
So what does this spell out for Claymore? Since popular series are often targets by fans for "more content" OAVs have been more commonplace in the anime market. So how do they pick them for OAV status? Simple, very high sales and popularity with pop-culture such as Cos-Play and other outlets of fandom. IF Claymore retains popularity in it's market and pop-culture an OAV miniseries, movie, or even follow up video special may find it's way into creation but it may take some time as some OAVs are only released after the main series has ended.
So my suggestion is show your support for it. Art, Cosplay, emailing the creators to tell them how much you like it, buying the Mangas and Graphic Novels, even purchasing the US release when it comes out will all show support for your series that will show the developers and staff how much it's liked.
