When Aizen first came to K-Town and confronted the Gotei 13, we got the TBTP Arc right after.
When the Top 3 Espada revealed their numbers and started to fight seriously, we swtiched to HM and Ichigo/Ulquiorra.
You have no clue how much I hope I'm wrong, but I'm willing to bet the story doesn't pick up here next week.
