Well, there's nothing that even comes close to the emotion of the end of Berserk (I think the last battle is the definition of a desperate emotional fight). In fact, it's almost too emotional, and it kind of strikes out of the blue. People either love that ending, or hate the entire show because of it.
But based on what you're saying, I'd still recommend Code Geass the most. There's a lot of emotional conflict because of Lelouch's ties to the empire he's trying to overthrow, as well as how his friends get tied up in the situation because of their roles within the current system. Also, Lelouch's inner conflict becomes more and more evident as the series goes on, and it's great to see his development. The main downside to it is that the fighting is primarily Mecha, but I still think you'd love it.
And avoid Claymore like the plague.
