I'm gonna interpret "series" as the main titles, so things like Resident Evil Survivor or Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus don't count. Otherwise, it's too convoluted:
1. Zelda
2. Resident Evil
3. Final Fantasy
4. Chrono (only 2 games, but both are amazing)
5. Metroid (if you count Metroid and Metroid Prime as the same series)
Honorable mentions to Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, and of course Super Mario, but each had some glaring low points I can't ignore.
