It might have been said already i dunno so forgive me if it is...but i believe pains secret is that he isn't when them. I believe they are all bodys of people that he hand pick (because of there abilities) to take over there bodies. I believe that pain isn't with them when he fights and jaraya or however you spell it figured it out. In order to beat pain you have to get around his "body's" and defeat the real one
