I'm pretty sure there's already a thread for this...
anyway, Hunter X Hunter is made by the creators of Yu Yu Hakusho, so you might want to check that out. I would also recommend Getbackers (I'm personally not a big fan, but it's a fun show). Full Metal Alchemist is also great and might be up your alley. Of course, there are other parts of the Hunter X Hunter universe (OVAs, movies) you might wanna check out.
Unfortunately, Elfen Lied is one of the more unique shows I've ever seen. Not exactly sure what to recommend there.
