firstly, don't bring the Bible in to Death Note, Kira and God are two entirely different things. Secondly, Light's plan was good in theory, eliminating the criminals in the world is indeed a good thing...doing so that you can become the god of the world, however, is not. Much like Lawliet became so obsessed with finding out how Kira killed and lost sight of the true goal (catching Kira) Light became so obsessed with becoming god that he became the very thing he set out to destroy, a murderous criminal. I do not disagree with Light's killing of criminals, but what about those that were innocent? Raye Penbar, Raye Penbar's wife, Lawliet, Watari...Light became so obsessed with his image as Kira that he became a murderer of innocents. To answer this question, we must look at Light and Kira as seperate entities (can you not deny that when Light lost his memory he was a different person than when he regained it?) In answer to the question, Light was indeed doing the right thing, Kira, however, was not.
